The COVID-19 Chapter, “At Home”: DAY 5
I ventured out in the neighborhood to meet some friends, when meetings aren’t allowed. I succeeded nonetheless. Let me introduce you.
There is a lot of static in my cotton filled head today. I’m feeling numb in my brain. This whole thing seems more and more surreal each day. There’s a virus that has shut down the entire world? I don’t want to think about it.
I completed some work I had to do, I secured the boys with activities, and then took to the road. I walked around my neighborhood for inspiration, and I didn’t have to look far. Let me tell you what I saw, not with clever words tonight, but with these images.
Coronavirus scare? Spring don’t care.
Spring is springing, and I admired her beauty, as she showed it to me, all around. I don’t have many words of my own today, but I kept hearing the welcome echo of someone else’s. Thank you, Ms. Dickinson, for saying words better than I can. The light was particularly nice this afternoon.
A Light Exists in Spring
A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period —
When March is scarcely here
A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.
It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.
Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay —
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay —
A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.
